I was convinced I wanted to do Fire as my theme, but as you can see from the image below, I had a major change and went with Water - I so love colouring Mitzi's Mermaids.
Normally I go for Teal or Orange, but this time I went for a rainbow look inspired by a recent
I started by painting a watercolour background and was going to colour with Copics, until I realised they do not blend on watercolour paper, so instead I grabbed my Prisma Pencils and used a combination of purple, pink and orange to colour her beautiful tale.
Then I went a bit mad with Gold paint splatter and novo drops, but it looks really magical in real life, not sure I have truly captured it in the photos.
I added some coral using stamps from Inkylicious and Lavinia Stamps using adirondack inks.
Finally I mounted onto black card and added a memory box die cut.
We would love to see your element projects.

What a gorgeous underwater scene you've created, Julie! Fabulous watercolor background and I just LOVE the rainbow affect of her tail. Amazing work with the Prismas. I've not even opened my new set yet. LOL Love the die cut corner, the delicate seaweed and lovely shine of the gold and Nuvo drops. Magical, indeed! xxD

ReplyDeleteBeautiful coloring on this one. I just love it all. Hugz
ReplyDeleteThis is so lovely, Julie!! The background looks great in watercolor and the mermaid looks wonderful in colored pencil - love the pink-orange-purple palette for the tail. I love sparkly bits in my own illustrations and I know how difficult to fully capture them with a camera, so I can use my imagination to fill in what this really looks like in real life. Thank you so much for the magical inspiration for our latest challenge at Aurora Wings today! Mitzi xxx
