Bee Happy

I am so happy to be joining the Design Team for Polka Doodles, over at the Digi Choosday Challenge Blog.

So our theme for this week is 'Think Summer' and 'beeing' as I am so happy to join the Design Team, I thought "What is more summery than cute little buzzy Bees".  I have used the Bees from the Winnie Fruit-Punch collection.

I created a hexagonal card base with brown card and then 2 white hexagons, one with the bees on and the other with a hexagonal cut out to show the bees.

I used a honeycomb mask for the top layer and brushed with Scattered Straw Distress Ink and Peach Bellini Adirondack Ink.

I added a sentiment from the same collection and distressed the edges and added a couple of pearls.

To decorate I die-cut some  honeycomb and added a rust coloured hand-tied bow.

I coloured my image with Copics and added some Sparkle pen to the wings.

Today I would like to share my latest project for Polka Doodles Inky Pinkies, using a fab image from the Sticks & Bones collection.

I used a brick wall embossing folder for the background and created the sentiment in Silhouette Studio, which I cut in black vinyl and layered over some designer paper.  I used the same paper for the corners.

The frame is also from the Silhouette Store and I have used Copics to colour my image and added a little glossy accents to her eye and the camera lens.

Encaustic Art

On a Summer trip to the Isle of Wight last year we visited Arreton Barns craft Village, where I found Rainbow Kingdom and the lovely Lynette, who kindly gave me a 5 minute lesson in Encaustic Art.

I have wanted to try this for the longest time after buying a picture by Chris Carrick over 20 years ago, this picture still hangs in my craft room.

 This is her Picture, which I have added my watermark to for protection.

Anyway, Hubby kindly got me the whole kit and I have been having a little play.

Still loads to learn, but so much fun, I have added a Lavinia Stamps image to this one which I actually stamped on before doing the wax.

If you look at this one closely it looks a bit like a Dolphin jumping from the waves - to me anyway - LOL

Even my 6 year old Son had a go, with fab results.

Polka Doodles 7th Birthday Mash Up

I am kicking off the 2nd week of the Polka Doodles Birthday celebrations with my own mash-up - Woohoo.

As this anniversary is normally called the "7 year itch", the Polka Doodles team have embraced the prickly feeling by scratching that itch and mixing/scratching up some new images ... get the pun? Corny we know but the team have had great fun. So to embrace the “itchy scratch” the Polka Doodles team have thrown caution to the wind and “scratched up” a different kind of birthday celebration.

The birthday celebrations will be running for 2 weeks and each day someone from the Polka Doodles team will be sharing their “mixed/scratched up” image. It’s been all hush hush and secret squirrel too as no one knows who has been busy creating what and when they will be revealing their image... so the Polka Doodles team get to join in the fun too. To add an extra layer of itchy fun, everyone has also been colouring up the new “scratched/mixed up” images, (still not knowing who designed them) and they will be sharing via their blogs and on Facebook.

We really have scratched things up ... new merged images, no one knows who created what and no one knows when they’ll be sharing them ...!

I went to town a bit on this one, as I wanted to create a beautiful 'Fairy Garden' scene.  I used images from several collections:-

Here is the finished result

She has been coloured with a few different mediums - Copics, Graph-Its, Lyras, Gold & White Gel Pens and Copper Stickles. I had an accident right at the end colouring her hair, with a huge green blob, but a bit of patience and the magic of a Copic blender pen, seem to have masked it very well - phew.

Finally I did't want to just make a card, so I used a shadow box frame to display my Fairy Garden and added a sentiment from the Silhouette store, cut in black vinyl.

I hope you like my mix up, I know I enjoyed creating and colouring it.

Down in the Garden

Morning Inky Pinkies, I hope you are all enjoying all the fun and games at Polka Doodles to celebrate their 7th Birthday.

In keeping with the merged/scratched theme, I did a simple merge of several toadstools from the Lily Bug Love collection and fussy cut them on my Cameo to create a CAS card.

I inked the background with Adirondack inks and Ink dusters and all the colouring was done with my Copics, with the help of the latest Kit & Clowder class "Elements of Nature'.

A it is such a CAS card, I decided to decorate inside as well.

I have secretly been sent an image which is a merge of Serenity Princess and a fence and I have no idea whose design it is, but I am so happy that I got to play with a beautiful fairy.

I stared by inking up a cloudy sky background with my ink dusters and a stencil made of several clouds merged together and cut out on my Cameo.

My plan was to just fussy cut the image and layer it on top, but I got a little carried away................

and covered up most of the background with a toadstool house and made a little Garden scene.

My image is coloured with Copics, with some sparkle pen on the wings (as usual impossible to photograph, but trust me it sparkles!)

All the elements of the toadstool were cut on my Cameo as was the little sign and grass.

I used a tattered lace die for the ivy.

I hope whoever designed my scratched up image likes my design and I can't wait to see what all my Teamies have created.

Happy Monday, it must be Polkadoodles Inky Pinky time.

For my project this week, I took inspiration from my favorite drink....... no not Vodka, Coffee of course.\

I have used the lovely Barista.

She has been coloured with a mix of Copics and Graph-it markers.

The top paper is also from this collection and the bottom is first Edition - Summer Breeze.

I added a vinyl coffee frame from the Silhouette store and some coffee beans, cut in brown vinyl.

To finish I coloured the MDF  'Relax' with a Graph-it marker and Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen.

Aurora Wings - Vintage Challenge

Today a new challenge starts over at Aurora Wings and our theme is 'Vintage'.

This is not a style I am very experienced at, but here is my take using Pierrot Sprite.

The little sprite is coloured with Copics.

I used a couple of papers from one of many paper pads I have, the only name on this one is "Serenity', I really liked the harlequin style pattern and soft green.

I found a postcard stamp by LOTV and a ticket stamp (I have no idea where this is from`) and edged with Vintage photo distress ink.

The clock is from the silhouette store and has also been brushed with distress ink.

Finished off with some copper coloured sequin gems.

Kraft & Pencils

I have finally done a Kit & Clowder pencil class!!!

I purchased the classes in Feb 15 and have only just got around to trying out my many pencils, as with everything I have good intentions and neeeed things now, but rarely have the time to actually sit down and use them.

I wish I had done it sooner, anyway I had great fun colouring up a Winnie image provided for one of the classes by Polkadoodles, so it is only right that I share it for this weeks Polkadoodles Inky Pinky DT inspiration.

I actually used three different brands of pencil - Mainly Prismacolors, with a few Spectrum Noir and Lyras where I had gaps.

They are all quite different to work with, the Lyras were surprising creamy and bright as were the prismas, the Spectrum Noirs were better for holding their point for the finer details though.

Here is the finished project mounted with a few embellishments.

I really enjoyed working with my pencils and love the vibrancy you get colouring on Kraft, I will definitely use them more now and continue with my pencil classes to make the most of them.
