Shabby Chic

Our latest challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers is hosted by BettyC, who has chosen the theme 'Shabby Chic'

BettyC would like to see any creation, scrapbook page, altered art, card that is 'shabby chic'.
This is another first for me, once again the internet provided a lot of help, but I am still not entirely sure I have captured Shabby Chic, I think maybe my image is not quite "Shabby Chic", but I did enjoy playing with all the different layers.

I gather the many distressed layers are all part of Shabby Chic, so I picked the papers and colour scheme first, which is something I usually do after I have coloured my image, I think I may change my ways, it was much easier this way.

The papers are First Edition 'Summer Breeze', which I Distressed with a Tim Holtz tool and some Distress Ink.

The image is by LOTV and is coloured with a mix of Flexmarkers, Promarkers and Copics.  I cut the image out with a Spellbinders die and added to my layers along with a memory box swirl.

All the embellies are from my stash: - Shells, Flowers, Pearls, lace and a little bronze starfish.

  3. Well I think it turned out just great! It's a lovely image and the papers and colours are gorgeous. I have started picking my papers first as well as I find it easier to match the colours that way round, Cindy

  4. Wow Jules, this is gorgeous and well worth the research you put in.

I am another who falls into the trap of colouring and then picking my papers, but you are right. It's so much easier the other way around. Trouble with me is though until I have coloured I am not really sure which direction I want to go in!!!

Love all the little details here such as the starfish and shells, and the diecuts are so pretty. Memory Box by any chance?
