Crafty Cardmakers #97 - 1,2,3

Our latest challenge at Crafty Cardmakers is hosted by Elaine who has chosen the theme '1,2,3'
who would like to see projects with 1 image, 2 patterned papers and 3 embellishments.

I used a digital stamp called 'Rock Star' by one of our sponsors this week The Paper Shelter.

Every good Rock Chick has Funky "Rock" hair, so I went with Purple and thought this would look great teamed with Emerald Green.

I coloured her with Promarkers and then layered her onto Green Cardstock and first edition 'Spring Drop' paper.

The music backing paper was a free digital download from Mygrafico which I printed onto purple velum.

I added a couple of tickets I stamped and cut out, some musical notes I have had in my craft stash forever, 3 little purple flowers with a green sparkly gem in the centre and finally some green feathers that were left over from my wedding favours!

We are sponsored by

Summer Treats

The latest challenge over at Tiddly Inks is 'Summer Treats', so with this in mind my card for today features all kinds of yummy sweets.

The image is 'Wryn Summer Time Treats'

I created the background, faux Ribbon and sentiment in 'Docrafts Digital Designer'

The sweets are 'Candy Shop' Clipart by Jessica Sawyer, which I cut out and sprayed with sparkle and shine, I also used her lollipops and merged with Wyrn.

I coloured her with Flexmarkers and added some Glossy Accents to the flowers on her shoes and hair.

The bunting is 'Tea Party' by Dovecarft.

Apologies for the picture quality, I have lent my camera to my Sister, so these were taken on my
I-Phone.

Fairy Sunny Day

Today I decided that I wanted to try to use Frantage!!!

Well it was a little messy the heatgun was not only burning my fingers but blowing the Frantage everywhere, I have a lovely sparkly floor now!!, but I think I am reasonably happy with my 1st attempt.

I used an image by Tiddly Inks called 'Fairy Sunny Day', she is adorable and I coloured with my Promarkers in some lovely sunny day colours.

I cut her out with my Spellbinders Grand Ovals and mounted on some Orange card from The paper Mill.  The backing paper is by K & Co and the sentiment is LOTV.

All the embellishments are from my stash.

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #96 - Birthday

Welcome to our latest challenge, hosted by Lin, who has chosen the theme of 'Birthday'.

As it's our birthday, 4 years since our very first article was published and Crafty Cardmakers was born, Lin would like to see your birthday creations to celebrate our birthday.

Please ensure your project meets the birthday challenge theme in order to qualify for a winner or Top 5 slot.

For my card I have used an image called 'Fancy' by Saturated Canary.

She has been coloured mainly with Promarkers, but I did use Copics for the hair - I find the nibs easier to work with for hair.

I have never tried to colour a large area in Red and it was a challenge to get a nice blend and also, I had a few bleeds around the ribbon in her hair - I should have used a fine nib me thinks!!

I cut her out with a Spellbinders Grand Scallops and layered with red and pearlescent black card.

I used an embossing folder to create the dots on the main card body - Think it was a create too one!

To finish I printed the sentiment on my PC and added some roses from Wild Orchid Crafts and a few flat back pearls.

Tiddly Inks DT Call

Evening everyone, I am super excited to see that Tiddly Inks are having a Design Team Call.

The first Digital stamp I purchased was Mermaid Miranda by Tiddly Inks and I have been a huge fan ever since, I especially love looking at all the wonderful inspiration from the Design Team which is always outstanding so it is with a little trepidation that I have decided to enter!!!

You can find all the details here if you want to have a try too.

I decided to try and colour an image called 'Magda and Sparkles' which has been lurking in my "to be coloured" file for quite a while, but each time I picked it up, it freaked me out a little and she was hidden back in the file.

So with a brave heart, a shaky hand and a case of Promarkers I set about bringing this gorgeous lady to life.

I don't know if you can tell from the photo, but I may have printed her a little to large - lol, so she ended up on a card made from an A4 sheet folded in two, but I think it made her hair much easier to colour as all the curls were not so tiny.

The colour inspiration actually came from another challenge on a Facebook Group I visit 'Donna Maries Cards and Promarkers', which is having a Rainbow Bright Theme, where you must incorporate all the colours of the Rainbow - RED, ORANGE, YELLOW, GREEN, BLUE, INDIGO, VIOLET. - Just about managed to add the yellow!!

The image was layered onto some Harlequin style paper I have had for years.  I matted Lime Green Papermania card with some Spotty First Editions paper, which in turn was layered onto Lilac Card, which I stamped some swirls onto with Brilliance Pearlescent Lime Ink.

Supplies:- Card - The Paper Mill, Papermania, 1st Edition
                 Flowers - Wild Orchid Crafts
Die Cuts - Cricut Cindy Loo

Promarkers - Hair - Berry Red, Pumpkin, Crimson
Skin - Satin, Blush, Dusty Pink
Dress - Leaf Green, Apple, Forest Green
Unicorn Tail/Mane - Orchid, Blue Pearl, Bluebell, Amerthyst
                     Unicorn - Eggnog, Buttercup

Challenges I would like to enter are:

Tiddly Inks - DT Call

Phew, well here goes, time for a well deserved coffee and a Magnum (well it is 32 degrees out today)

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are all enjoying this lovely sunshine. x

Two Grooms

A friend asked me if I could create a card for a civil partnership/wedding she is attending soon.

So my first challenge was to find an image of two grooms, after a couple of hours scouring the internet with no results (a little surprising in this day and age!).  I had a look through all the digi's I already have and found an image from Sureya on Diviant Art, that I thought would be suitable.

I opened the image in word then duplicated it and flipped it, so I had two identical images, kind of looking at each other and thought it would pass as a wedding image - I hope you agree.  I then added the sentiment.

The image is coloured with pro markers then cut with Spellbinders Grand Ovals and matted onto a large Oval.

The backing paper is by 1st Edition - Up Up & Away.

These little fellas were a joy to colour and I am really pleased with the end result.

The challenges I would like to enter are:

Crafty Cardmakers #95 - Holiday

Welcome to our latest challenge, hosted by Josephine, who has chosen the theme 'Holiday'

Josephine would like to see projects that depict or are inspired by a holiday. Any holiday themed creation will qualify, but you might want to really inspire us, like Viv has below and create something to depict a holiday you would like to have, but have not gotten around to yet.

I took my inspiration from the gorgeous Sunsets that we watched every evening on our Honeymoon in Hawaii.

Each night at dusk they had a cliff diving ceremony, where a man in traditional Hawaiian attire would climb the cliffs and light the beacons then dive off the end.  It was really beautiful to watch and we made sure we were on the beach every evening to see the ceremony.

When I  started my project I intended to make a card, I abandoned my first attempt as the paper I used was not giving a nice effect, so I changed to a pearlescent paper but the whole thing ended up being way to large, so I decided to change it to a wall hanging as a pressie for Hubby, then I left a window open and the rain attacked it.

So for my third (and final) attempt I picked a matt paper - it seems to make the colour more intense - and decided to stick with making it larger and then framing it.

It seems that the rain did me a favour as I am much happier with my 3rd attempt - lol

I have created this scene using Ink Dusters and the following Adirondack inks.

Cloudy Blue, Juniper, Pool, Peach Bellini, Sunset Yellow, Red Pepper, Polar White and black.
I used part of a mask from a Splodgeaway Stenscape that I have, to create the rocks - then I put some black mica power over the top to give it a nice shine.

The tree is digital, from a great site I found Digital Trees where you can purchase loads of different styles of trees and plants,  I paid $1.29 (about 68p) for 21 different Palm Trees - Bargain.

The real Sunset - Beautiful
