Stargazer Lily

It's new challenge day over at Open-Minded Crafting Fun, where the theme this fortnight is "No Red or Pink", so we want to see all your lovely creations without those two colours.

I decided to revisit an image which I used for my very 1st Deisgn Team work back in 2013, it is an image by Oak Pond Creations, called Stargazer Lily.

A stargazer lily is typically pink, but since that is out of the question for this challenge, I changed it to a Tiger Lily, with lovely oranges and yellows and thought It would be a great image for a Mothers Day card, which is not too far away.

I have used Spectrum Noir Pencils to colour this image and am really pleased with the vibrancy I got with them.

The die is from the Silhouette store and I also used my Cameo to write the wording on my card.

This is my original card with this image from 2013, think my coloring has definitely improved, thanks to Alyce's fab classes at Kit & Clowder.

Do come and join in, you could win a prize from one of our fab sponsors.

Embrace the Ocean

I have been playing with my new Spectrum Noir pencils and used a new image by Ching-Chou Kuik, called "Embrace the Ocean.

I really enjoyed coloring this, but found I had to use many layers to get the look I wanted, think I just need lots more practice, still cannot get fine lines in the hair, maybe a sharper pencil is needed?

I created the background by spritzing with blue and purple adirondack inks, mixed with a little water.

The papers are scraps I had around, the flowers are wild orchid crafts and the curly die cut is memory box.

Disco Diva

Since moving my craft room downstairs, I have just had so much more time to play and create.

Todays card was made for the challenge on the Sassy Studio Designs Facebook group, using the free image provided there.

She is called 'New Year Disco Ball'.

I have colored the image with Copics, finally got my warm greys, so I could try out black hair!!

All the card is from The Paper Mill - I got a huge box of lovely card for Christmas from my SIL.

I have gone over the disco ball, hat and shoes with a clear wink of stella pen, hopefully you can see the shimmer in the photo below.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the record and music.

Thanks for popping by.

For a Boy

Evening all, just wanted to share a card I made for my Nephews 9th Birthday.

I was inspired by his holiday to Barbados last year, where he got to Snorkle with Turtles.

I won this image in a challenge it is by A Random Fan and called Fintastic Noah.

The image is colored with copics, which leads to another reason for choosing this image, I wanted to practice my next lesson at Kit & Clowder - Afro Hair and also a darker skin colour.

I am pretty happy with the skin, but just need more dark in the hair.

Thanks for looking.

Movie Inspiration

This fortnights challenge at Open-Minded Crafting Fun is a great one - Movie Inspiration.

There are so many fab movie inspired images out there, but this one really caught my eye.  It is by Sassy Studio Designs and called 'Katniss Sassy', inspired by the Hunger Games, a movie I love.

Also, I so wanted to rock the 'girl on fire dress', I hope I have done it justice, cos I really love how it came out.

The image is mainly coloured with Copics and a little Spectrum Noir pencils on the dress.

The background was a free clipart file I found and I re-created the Hunger Games quote in Silhouette Studio and merged them together.

Our lovely sponsors for this challenge are:

Winter Lullaby

This week I have been playing with some beautiful new images and one of my favourites is the new release at Aurora Wings.

This beauty is called 'Winter Lullaby' and is available here and here.

I have used a number of mediums on this project, starting with the background which is done in Adirondack inks with my Inkylicious ink dusters.

The image was initially colored with Copics, then I went in and added some depth to the flowers with Spectrum Noir pencils.

I went over the grey of the owl with a silver wink of stella, but it is not easy to see in a photo.

You can see some beautiful interpretations of the image by my team mates on the Aurora Wings Showcase Blog.

Thanks for stopping by, always appreciated.

Green Moth Maiden

Over on the Kit & Clowder Facebook group, there is a fab colour palette challenge, using a beautiful new image by Ching-Chou Kuik called 'Green Moth Maiden'.

If you follow all the criteria she is free to colour and enter (closes 16/1/15)

So whilst suffering with a very painful ear infection I decided the best way to take my mind off of it was to jump in and give it a go.

I used Copics, Promarkers and Spectrum Noir pencils to colour the image.

She is mounted onto Papermill card cut with spellbinders Grand Labels 11.
The butterfly is also a Spellbinders die and the corners are a Tattered Lace die.

Hopefully in the last 2 photos you can see the shimmer of glitter on the Butterflies, this was done using a clear hint of stella brush.

I loved using these colours together and look forward to more images by Ching-Chou Kuik
