I haven't played with my Lavinia stamps in a while, but at Ally Pally a couple of weeks ago, I found the perfect stamp to create a beautiful background for them by Inkylicious.

I used Distress Oxides on the stamp, spritzed with a little water, then added some stars with a white gel pen.

Apart from the background, all other stamps are by Lavinia Stamps

Paper Pieced Princess

Something new for me this week for my DIGI CHOOSDAY inspiration, paper piecing!!

So I think I may have tried this once a long time ago and it was a bit of a hot mess, so I took my time with this one and admit to needing a little guidance from my teamies.

Anyway here she is Serenity Princess from one of my favourite collections Serenity Fairy Wishes.

I started by printing some of the lovely papers from Winnie Special Moments, then printed my little princess on top. I am not much of a hand cutter, but think I did ok cutting out all the elements I need for my card.

I found some plain card for her hair and again printed the image and cut.

Once all was cut out, I coloured her skin with Copics and glued all my layers together.

I used Distress Oxide inks and gold spritz to decorate the photo mount from inside a frame and then stamped and embossed using Polkadoodles Summertime STAMP ME stamps.

Finishing off with some gems and resin flowers.  I really enjoyed doing something outside my comfort zone, I may even do it again!!

Ruby Sweet

So here is my final card for the new release at Polkadoodles, the beautiful 'Ruby Sweet'.

I have made a simple easel card for her, in Red and Gold.

She is of course coloured with my trust Copics.  I used a die for the red bow and just added a few tiny red flowers and a Dream Sentiment, I think she is dreaming of Mr Right!!

I think you will agree Ruby is a beauty and so lovely to colour, I am looking forward to seeing more of Ruby this year.

Ruby Boho Chic

It is the final day of inspiration for the new release at Polkadoodles and I have 2 images to share today.

First up is 'Ruby Boho Chic'.

I used a rose cut out card from the silhouette store and backed with a rich Purple card, then coloured this cutie to match, with my Copics.

As I printed her direct onto the card base, the comics didn't blend quite as I would like, but I still think she looks lovely.

My image is coloured with Copics and I have used papers my my stash and a heart embossing folder for the green strip.

Ruby Frou Frou

So today I have done something different and not a card!

The image is Ruby Frou Frou, from this weeks new release at Polkadoodles.

I recently went to the craft show at Ally Pally, (and spent too much money as usual), I saw these fab MDF lightbulbs, which I really wanted to use for a project.

I am really fascinated by mixed media, although I have only dabbled a couple of times and am really not sure that I have got the hang of it, so I pulled on my big girl pants and had another go.

I am so happy with how this turned out, way better than I expected.

I started by trawling through my craft goodies to find some MDF shapes,  I found a couple of dandelions and some tiny hearts, so after gessoing the lightbulb I glued them on and gessoed over those too.

Once it was dry, I grabbed a pink and turquoise distress spray ink and sprayed away, what I actually ended up with was pink and purple, but it looked pretty.

I dryed the ink and then added a touch on white pearl paint and some Shaved ice  ( I love sparkle).

Next I stamped a verse to the side and added a resin butterfly.

I coloured up Miss Ruby Frou Frou with Copics in matching colours and Voila, think I may try this again!

Ruby Hey There

We are showcasing a beautiful new collection of Chic Ladies for you this week at Polkadoodles.

My first image of the week is 'Ruby Hey There'

She is coloured with Copics in shades of Red, Orange and Yellow, I kept the design simple to show the image off, just adding a pearl embellishment to the edge of the card.

Marisol Mermaid

I am just fascinated with mermaids (and unicorns), so I was delighted that the latest Aurora Wings Showcase is a beautiful new mermaid.

I wanted to try some new things with this image, I am not sure if they all worked as I imagined, but hey you don't know until you try.

Firstly, I wanted to create a background with Distress Oxides, to look like the sun was shining through the water and then adding some water sloshes to take the colour away for a bubble effect.  I also tried to add some frontage, but most of it blew away, I never have been able to get the hang of it!

I also thought it would be nice to colour her in different colours, instead of the usual turquoise or orange that I use, so I took inspiration from a past Kit & Clowder Class and tried a rainbow mermaid.

As always when I work with Mitzi's images, my project ended up way to big for a card, so I backed her with a seashell frame from the Silhouette store and she will go on my craft room wall with my other Aurora Wings Mermaids, although I am slowly running out of space :)
