Hydrangea Sprite

My beautiful Purple-Blue Hydrangea's are dying in this heat, so before they disappear completely I used their colour as the inspiration for my card using the Hydrangea Sprite by Mitzi Sato-Wiuff of Aurora Wings for the current Sprite challenge.

The image has been coloured with Copics.

I got a Hydrangea petal file from the silhouette store and super sized it to create an easel card in a petal shape, then layered with these lovely hydrangea papers I found by Digital Delights on Etsy, they were just the right colours, I also used a different colour paper to create the tag

I also used the petal file to create all the little hydrangea flowers down the side and added a flourish.

I also used my Silhouette pens to write the sentiment on the  bottom.

Thanks for visiting :)

Superbikes

This week I made a card for my Step-Dad who is a huge World Super Bikes fan.

I decided to make another word cloud using tagul

I looked up the world super bikes website and added the names of all the riders and bike teams then used a free clipart silhouette as the shape.

This is a really easy and relatively quick way of doing a male card, just pick a shape and theme, enter the details and Voila!

The background is a silhouette file by Lizzie Mayne and the gears are also from the silhouette store.

Challenges I would like to enter are:-

Just Inspirational Challenges - Hobbies/Sports
Brown Sugar Challenges - For the Boys
Die Cutiin Divas - Anything Goes

The Gift

This week I finally used my coloured image 'The Gift' by Aurora Wings on a project.

I coloured this up last week and did not really know what I wanted to do with it, then I opened a draw in my craft room and found some MDF shapes I had never used.

I picked a large heart and  covered it in some teal core-donations card, cut it down close to the edge and sandpapered round the edge for a lovely neat finish.  I lightly sanded some of the surface and then brushed some gold   around the edges.

The image is coloured with a Copics for the skin and Promarkers for everything else, I dotted the background with my ink dusters.

I cut a variety of under the sea creatures and shells and dusted them with Adirondack ink and added some clear fine flitter to their fins.

I  also added some swirly cut with a memory box die and some dew Drops to look like little bubbles.
When I finally finished I thought it was missing something, so I added some Frantage.

I must confess to putting the whole project under the grill in order to melt it - risky but worthwhile - lol.

I am delighted with the finished project and will add some ribbon and hang on my craft-room wall.

Challenges I would like to enter are:-

Wedding Season 2

The brief for my second Wedding card this week was Orange and Cream also a picture of the venue.

I had a hard time with adding a picture of the venue as the only one I could find online was a little blurred at the edges, but I used a tool I found online and gave it a sepia sketch effect, so it looked a little nicer, then printed it onto Velum.

I mounted the picture behind an old farm insert and decorated the frame with die cuts flowers and pearls.

The wording is cut from vinyl and the other dies are from the Sil Store.

I really like the orange and cream, but personally I am not keen on the photo element, although being backed onto a frame it could be kept as a wall hanging.

Challenges I would like to enter:-

My Heart Pieces - Wedding/Anniversary
Tuesday Throwdown - Handmade Flowers
ABC Challenge - P is for Pearls

Wedding Season 1

This week I was asked to make two very different wedding cards.

The brief for the 1st card was Purple and sparkles.

The I found the  inspiration for this card on Pintrest

For the main part of the cake I used a template from  the silhouette store.

I cut several borders and layered them up on the top edges of each tier, these were from Birds Cards, who has a ton of gorgeous free SVG files.

i added a thin ribbon just above these and a mix of small and large flowers also from the Sil store, then added a mix of gems and liquid pearliest o the centre for sparkle.

A close up of the lacy edges

Unfortunately once again my photos were taken in the evening and do not show the true colours :(

I also decided to decorate the box and inside of the card.

I was really happy with the finished card and would like to enter the following challenges:-

Crazy Challenge - Die cuts and Punches
Alphabet Challenge - L for Lace
My Heart Pieces - Wedding/Anniversary
Ladybug Crafts - Flowers
Crafting from the heart - Anything Goes

Sassy Sarong

Today is the start of a new challenge over at Open-Minded Crafting Fun our theme this fortnight is anything 'Vacation related'.

Vacation to me always means the beach -  Sun, a good book and a Pina Colada!

My image is by Sassy Studio designs and called 'Sassy Sarong', she is the first sassy image I have coloured and she definitely won't be the last, I just loved colouring her. Crafty Caz Weekly I am writing this it is over 30 degrees with a black stormy sky, I would rather be where I imagine this Sassy lady is :)

I have coloured the image with Copics, still practising that skin and hair with my online class at Kit & Clowder, the tutorials Alyce has put together are fab, just need more time to practice.

The Starfish, shells, sentiment and leaves are all from the Silhouette store and the flip flops were cut ages ago on my MIL's Cricut.  Flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Crafty Cardmakers #119 - Under the Sea

This fortnights challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers is hosted by me!  I have chosen the theme

UNDER THE SEA

I would love to see your creations with Mermaids, Turtles, Fish or other dwellers beneath the waves. Whichever you chose it should be a prominent part of the design and not just a small piece of seaweed or a tiny fish in one corner!

I thought this would be a great excuse for me to colour up a mermaid, I just love all the amazing mermaid images out there and took a while to pick one, but settled on one by my current Fav artist 'Mitzi Sato-Wiuff of Aurora Wings.

I chose the image 'Mermaid with Ribbon'

I cut the clam shaped card on my silhouette and also the seaweed.

For the background I tried the shaving foam technique, which was a lot of fun even my 4 year old joined in - I think he liked all the mess it made!!  You can find a tutorial here on youtube by Jessica Taylor.

I did a print and cut on my image and then coloured with a mix of Copics and Prisma colour pencils, then added some stickles to the bubbles.  I also added some dew drops, metal starfish and seahorse and some tiny shells sprayed with glitter and popped a little pearl inside one.

For the bottom of the card, I cut some more seaweed and shells and found a little quote on pinterest which is drawn with the silhouette sketch pens.

I think maybe I went a little OTT on embellishments, but I had so many ideas, overall I am really pleased with how it turned out.

I hope I have inspired you to join us this fortnight and I look forward to seeing all your wonderful "Under the Sea' creations.

Openminded Crafting Fun #14 - Water, Water Everywhere

Hi There

Todays card is for our challenge over at Open-Minded Crafting Fun.

Our theme this fortnight is 'WATER'

This cute image is by one of our sponsors  Paper Pretties and is called 'Daisy'.

I purchased some Prisma Colour pencils this week and decided to give them a go on this image and I am pretty pleased with the result, they do blend nicely.

The backing papers are 1st Edition - Up, Up and away.  I also added a little glitter to the stones and some Dew Drop gems to look like bubbles.

For the sentiment I used some double sided letters I have had for ages and mixed two coloured glitters and rubbed it on the sticky and voila!

We have some fab sponsors with great prizes
