Dragonfly Dreams

I hope you are all enjoying your Easter break and not eating too many eggs?

In order to keep away from the Chocolate this weekend, I have been busy creating my latest Polkadoodles Inky Pinkys DT inspiration.

I have used the beautiful 'Octavia Moonfly Dragonfly', I coloured this one up previously, but wasn't too happy with the results, I am pleased to say I am much happier this time around.

I have used all sorts of coloruring mediums to bring this little beauty to life.

I colored the whole image with Copics, then went in and added to this.

Glitter Gel pens on the Dragonfly body, Prismacolor Pencils to add different colours to the base coat of blue in her hair, then finally a couple of coats to the wings with a Spectrum Noir sparkle pen, hopefully you can see all the sparkle below, I have lightened the image to help it show up.

For the background I stippled with Stream and Purple Twilight Adirondack inks, then dotted around some White Opal liquid pearls.

Once it was all dry I double mounted on Papermill card, added a sentiment from LOTV and a couple of punched butterflies, which are dotted with a Silver Graph-it Shake pen.

Thanks for looking, hope to see you over at the  Inky Pinkys Facebook page.

Rock Cake

Todays Inky Pinkys DT card is one I have made for my Son's best friend.

I have used an image from the Polkadoodles Sticks & Bones collection, 'Birthday Rock Cake'.

The image is coloured with Copics with some added glossy accents on his lovely big eyes.

The name and number are a print and cut, also from the Sticks & Bones collection, as is the cheeky dinosaur I added.

I embossed some stone coloured paper for the background and some ovals I cut ages ago, I think on my Cricut machine.

Slow Loris Fundraiser

Today is a very special project to celebrate the 2 year anniversary of the Aurora Wings Challenge Blog.

Mitzi is holding a special fundraiser for Slow Loris Rescue at InternationalAnimalRescue.org.

Slow lorises are becoming endangered from poaching and mistreated in illegal exotic animal trades. Our fundraiser hopes to raise awareness in the general public beyond that of "a viral video of the cute animal being tickled" and to raise fund for the charity organization that actively rescues and rehabilitates these animals.

Mitzi is kindly offering a gift of a digital stamp, "Slow Loris Sprite", to anyone who makes a donation of any amount and donations of $10 USD or more will receive a second digi of a Slow Loris in addition.

These are Special Limited Edition digis, created specifically for this fundraiser, and will not be made available for purchase in the future. Please donate today and join the friends of Aurora Wings to support the conservation and humane treatment of these beautiful creatures!!

Please click below to go to the fundraiser page.

I have had the privilege of  being able to colour up one of the adorable images - too cute.

I made a hanging heart.  I started with a blank MDF heart and then covered with a sheet of designer paper by first Edition - Summer Breeze.

Once the glue was dry, I sanded around the edges and then brushed them with Gold gilding wax.

I cut up some branch dies from the Silhouette store for him to sit on, then added a few flowers and pearls.  Finishing off with a lovely organza bow.

This little guy is coloured with Copics with some added Glossy Accents to those giant eyes.

Please pop along to the Fundraiser Page and pledge your support of this beautiful animal.

You can see all the other lovely designs from my teamies HERE on the Showcase Blog.

Dragons Orb Fairy

Today I want to share my colouring, following the latest background technique class over at Kit & Clowder.

The image is by Molly Harrison and called 'Dragon's Orbs Fairy Dragon'.

This image was coloured with Copics with the step by step techniques in the class.

For the background I used Tim Holtz alcohol re-inkers, the effect was achieved with ink, surgical spirit and a cotton bud, lots of fun.

I really enjoyed learning the new techniques and I am very happy with the end result.

Aurora Vine

Today's card is for a colouring competition over at Kit & Clowder, using a beautiful image from the The East Wind.

She is called 'Aurora Vine' and is available at a special discount for the next 2 weeks if you go and Join the Kit & Clowder Facebook group.

The theme is to use your favorite Colours.  Mine is Turquoise and I am also partial to a little Orange, so I combined the two.

She has been coloured with Copics and fussy cut on my Silhouette Cameo, I also added some clear Spectrum Noir sparkle pen to the flowers and shoes.

I then layered her onto a paper from First Edition - Up Up & Away.  The die cut branch is also cut on the Silhouette, finished with a bow and a collection of flowers from my stash.

Thanks for looking.

My Favorite Season

Welcome to the first Aurora Wings, 'Team Stella' challenge,  I hope you enjoyed our blog hop last week and look forward to seeing you over at the challenge blog.

My favorite season is fast approaching SPRING.  I love that the days are getting longer, the blossom is on the trees and we can finally enjoy playing in the garden.  Which brings me my image choice, CLOVER PIXIE, inspired by my little boys fascination with trying to find a four leafed Clover.

My Clover Pixie is coloured with Copics and Promarkers.

For an added sense of spring, I made the card in a flower shape and dusted it with pink distress ink to give the look of Spring blossom.

Finally adding some leafs, mini Roses and a pearl sprig.

I can't wait to visit you all and see your lovely seasonal projects.

Rapunzel

Phew, did you ever start an image and almost abandon it halfway?

That's what happened to me yesterday when I began to colour my image for this weeks Polkadoodles Inky Pinkies DT project.

I was actually after an image that I could knock out pretty quickly as I am a bit behind, boy did I pick the wrong one, I stopped several times, but time was short so I muddled on and it has actually turned out better than I thought - That's not to say I am happy with it, so here goes.......

Image is Rapunzel and colored with Copics.

I started with the brickwork, which was mean't to be a soft grey, but hey, I got a bit carried away with my W9, next i did the skin and my E4 went a bit wild and wobbly (not my hands - lol), but I persevered

Then the hair disaster happened, I just could not get my strokes fine enough, so I decided to add some gold gel pen, kinda works!

As a complete project, It is better than I thought it would be halfway through, but not what I had in my head.
I finished by layering onto some brick embossed white card, which I dusted a little distress ink over and also stippled some blue distress ink around the finished image.

Lastly I added some Ivy die cuts, to tie it all together.

Thanks for stopping by :)

Venus

Hey everyone, It's new release time at Aurora Wings and we have some lovely projects over at the Showcase blog. yes it's a new sprite - Venus Fly-Trap.

Isn't she adorable.  I have coloured her with Copics with a little Pencil for shading.

I used a green distress ink around the edges and also to colour the leaf diecuts.

The sentiment is cut in vinyl.

I really wanted to make a pop up card in the shape of a venus fly-trap, but it turned out pretty tricky, so instead I went for a surprise inside, the card.

I really love this little sprite, it brings back memories of my childhood and desperately trying to get my Nan's fly-trap to snap shut, I don't think I ever succeeded though!!

You can find this cutie in the Digi Shop.
