Day of the Dead Marie

This week I have been playing with another gorgeous image by Aurora Wings, called 'Day of the Dead Marie'.  She is beautifully Dark and not an image I would usually pick.

But I so enjoyed colouring her up, I decided to use non-Halloween colours, choosing a palette of red and Teal, I really like the contrast in these colours.

I mounted the image on a large fancy frame from the silhouette store and finished with a triple red and teal bow and large star shaped diamonte embellishment.

I stippled the background with some ink and used a glitter gel pen on the face makeup and feathers, think you can just about see the shimmer in the feathers here.

Please do pop along to the Showcase site to have a look at all the different beautiful ways this image has been interpreted.

  1. LOVE the color combination of red and teal!! These colors seem to energize each other and develope a life of their own. I love your creation with "Day of the Dead Marie". It's colorful and full of 'life', which is a marvelous contrast to the skull makeup, cat skull, spider, and torn ribbon that all hint at 'death'. Beautiful job!! Thank you so much for making such a gorgeous sample for the Aurora Wings Showcase Blog.
