My First Blog!

Well, I have been looking at lots of lovely blogs lately and have wanted to comment or join in a challenge or two, but have found I couldn't without my own blog.

So a couple of days ago I came across http://craftycardmakers.blogspot.co.uk and read a tutorial on creating a Blog http://craftycardmakers.blogspot.co.uk and thought lets give it a go.

So here it is  Taa Daa!

Why Pumpkin Belly?  Well when I was expecting my little one, I had the hugest bump and the scans showed a little bubba with a big belly, so we named bump "My Little Pumpkin Belly", so thats the story of the name.

I also noticed that their current challenge was right up my alley, so my first card is for their Challenge - http://craftycardmakers.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/challenge-82-create-fairytale-scene.html  Create a Fairytale Scene.

I layered the lovely Vixie & Butterfly swing from http://www.makeitcrafty.com over a digital meadow silhouette, which I then changed to blue and put on a blue background.  I Coloured her up with my Pro markers - sorry I was so engrossed I didn't note which ones - I must remember to make a note in future.

I do know I used Cool Aqua, Duck Egg and Marine for the blues.

I added a sentiment from The Glitter Pot & Pearls & a Butterfly from my craft stash, then added some stickles for sparkle!

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:-

Phew, here goes

  9. What a lovely blog, and welcome! I think you've done a fabulous job with setting up your own little space on the web :D

Just a couple of words of wisdom that were passed on to me when I started blogging that may help you out; Photos - take a high resolution image but don't post it larger than 'Medium' on your blog as otherwise they tend not to fit in the column space very well - besides, visitors can click on the image and it will be blown up bigger for them (hence the high resolution to start with)

And secondly; Links - it's often easier for a reader if you don't put the whole web address down when you want to link something - obviously you need to when creating the link, but in your text you may find that just referring to the blog is enough in itself i.e. Make It Crafty - not http://makeitcrafty(etc) and links to tutorials I find if you just put something like 'details can be found 'here'....' and attach the link to the work 'here' it works well too.

Anyway, just some passing thoughts that you may find helpful. Enjoy exploring and experimenting - after all there are no right or wrong ways to doing something :)
